Composite Factory Selected for $1 Million contract - Naval Anti-Terrorist Protection System

 Composite Factory Inc., a small Native Owned business located in the PARC economic development zone, today announced the intention by the US Navy to award a $1MM contract to develop a Transportable Anti-Intrusion Pontoon Barrier System (TAPBS).  With contracting to be completed within the month, this program will fund the research and development of a lightweight barrier system that could be employed wherever US Naval ships are based, moored or require protection from small craft that may possess a potential terrorist threat.  Work on this development program will begin early in 2003 and is expected to be completed within a years time.

 

History of Composite Factory

     Composite Factory Inc., was founded in 1998 on the premise that a manufacturing house that specializes in the manufacture of composite materials, by any and all methods, could provide the best solution to each customer by applying the correct manufacturing process to the correct composite material for each market segment.

Composite Factory, Inc. (Composite Factory), is a Native American Owned Small Business, formed and incorporated in New York State in February of 1998 and headquartered in Plattsburgh, NY.  Composite Factory currently employs 14 people and is growing steadily.   In 2000 SENTEC Corporation, a 100% Native American Owned Corporation located in Western New York State, acquired Composite Factory.   

Located in the Northeastern most corner of New York State, Plattsburgh is approximately 1 1/2 hours (by car) from airports in Montreal or Burlington VT, 2 hours north of Albany Airport and 10 minutes from the Clinton County Regional Airport.  [Directions]

Composite Factory is located in an Economic Development Zone (EDZ - certificate #56-0014-4129) on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base and occupies 50,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. Currently CFI has the capacity to produce over 10,000 pounds of Ceramic Composites,   1,000,000 pounds of Directed Fiber Preforms, and 50,000 pounds of Polymer Composites per year. Composite Factory also offers in house tooling and Machine Shop Services.   The factory currently occupies approximately 40% of the available roof line and can add production capacity rapidly, if required.
